La pandémie COVID-19 nous a d’abord rappelé à quel point nous sommes vulnérables face aux virus issus du monde animal. Elle nous a ensuite démontré le rôle-clé des vaccins pour limiter les ravages qu’ils causent. De nouvelles maladies infectieuses ne manqueront pas de menacer à nouveau les êtres humains dans les décennies à venir. Ce sont les enfants et adolescents d’aujourd’hui qui seront en première ligne pour les combattre. L’objectif de cette collection d’articles est de susciter leur intérêt pour la science qui leur permettra d’affronter ces pandémies du futur.

Clearly, we need to develop more effective approaches to tackle bugs and superbugs. Better hygiene and better vaccine coverage must be considered first and education of kids is essential in this respect. This is the main objective of this series of papers published in Frontiers for Young Minds under the heading “How to Fight Harmful Microbial Bugs and Superbugs?”. Another key objective of the collection is to elicit the interest of children for research on innovative anti-microbial therapies and vaccines.
